What does “Board Certification” mean?
Board certification is a voluntary process in which physicians demonstrate mastery of the knowledge and skills required for a particular specialty. Physicians must successfully pass an examination process that’s administered by a certifying agency.
Why does it matter?
- A board certification means that a physician like Dr. Jensen—who is certified in phlebology (vein treatment) and cardiovascular and general surgery—has exceeded the licensing requirements of his or her specialty by continually expanding their knowledge and skills, and then demonstrating them by passing rigorous evaluations conducted on a regular basis.
